American Lung Association of the Northwest's

2008 Yakima Asthma Walk (5K)
Presented by

Saturday, October 11, 2008

On a crisp, clear Saturday morning walkers met at Sarg Hubbard Park and strolled along the Yakima Greenway to raise money and asthma awareness for the 2008 Asthma Walk. Steve Wellman from KIMA served as our MC, Eric Lee and his band drummed the beat, breakfast snacks were provided by several local merchants, Yakima Regional's CEO Monte Bostwick shared some thoughts, and our Family Chair Jay Daniel Lloyd-Watson along with his parents blew the whistle to start our Walk! It was a glorious morning for the Asthma Walk and the American Lung Association of the Northwest is grateful to our Corporate Sponsors and to each person who came out to Walk. We look forward to walking with you again next year!

Please note that donations are still being accepted for this year's Walk.

Today at age 5, Jay Daniel Lloyd-Watson has suffered with asthma since he was 3 months old. He had his first asthma attack at age 6 months but only in the past 18 months as been diagnosed with asthma. Taking his medications daily has drastically reduced the monthly emergency room visits, which normally occurred between 3 - 4 AM. Jay Daniel's father Dan is no stranger to asthma as he carried an inhaler until he was 13. Other than suffering from exhaustion occasionally, Jay Daniel's mother Tammy Lloyd has a great outlook on life and is proud to be the 2008 Asthma Walk Family Chair.
Event Goal: $60,000

The Yakima Asthma Walk raises money to fight asthma and lung disease in all its forms through education, research and advocacy. Why? The statistics are staggering. More than one million people in Washington State and 35 million Americans nationwide struggle to breathe because of lung disease. Everyone is affected in some way.
